Chestnut Cocoa Whiz Cake: Easy, Fast, Mini-Me Approved, and Allergy-Friendly!

Need a dessert that’s quick, delicious, and perfect for sharing with everyone? This Chestnut Cocoa Whiz Cake is your go-to!

Made with naturally gluten-free chestnut flour, rich cocoa, and chocolate droplets, it’s soft, moist, and so easy to whip up—even your Mini-Me can help. The best part? This recipe is incredibly flexible. Whether you’re baking for someone who’s gluten-intolerant, vegan, or has an egg allergy, you can easily tweak it to fit their needs without sacrificing taste or texture.

Ingredients

  • 100g / 3.5oz sugar
  • 80ml / 2.7oz oil
  • 250g / 8.8oz chestnut flour
  • 30g / 1oz bitter cocoa
  • 3 eggs (or substitute with: 160g / 5.4oz yogurt, dairy free will do too if need a dairy free recipie too!, or 1 smashed banana)
  • 1 glass of milk (use plant-based milk like almond, oat, or soy for vegan or dairy-free)
  • 100g / 3.5oz chocolate droplets
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Instructions

  • Preheat & Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan or line it with parchment paper. (This is a great time to let the Mini-Me draw on the parchment—it’ll bake into invisible art!)
  • Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together chestnut flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and baking soda. Let your Mini-Mes take turns; flour dust is half the fun!
  • Add the Wet Ingredients: Pour in milk, oil, and your egg or substitute. Stir until smooth and slightly lumpy—don’t worry, lumps mean it’s homemade.
  • Chocolate Sprinkle Time: Fold in the chocolate droplets and let the kids add extra—because you know they will.
  • Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Smooth the top (or let the Mini-Mes attempt this—it might get creative). Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool and Decorate: Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a plate. Decorate with a dusting of powdered sugar for a snowy effect!

Why Mini-Me will love it:

Rich and Chocolately: A soft, moist cake with a hint of nuttiness and cocoa bliss.

Super Quick: From mixing bowl to oven in under 10 minutes!

Mini-Me-Friendly Fun: Stirring, pouring, and sneaking chocolate droplets—plenty of fun for little hands.
